information on guest speakers
Throughout the academic year DUGS run a wide variety of guest lectures on a fortnightly basis during Michaelmas and Epiphany Term. These are talks by distinguished speakers from across the United Kingdom and abroad whom have expertise in contrasting areas of geographical academia or industry.
Guest lectures often address recent advancements in topical geographic research and are usually highly relevant to modules taken in the department. They therefore offer the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and supplement your course - very useful for exam time and are often accompanied by snacks and refreshments! In the past, termly seminars and conferences on topical issues have also been held where a number of academics have visited Durham to speak throughout the day.
