As the human and physical sides to Geography at Durham are integrated in first year, it is important that the BA students keep their wits about them regarding plate tectonics and quaternary glaciation, as much as the BSc students brush up on their awareness of social and cultural elements of the subject.
One of my biggest pieces of advice for both BA and BSc students would be to purchase the Joseph Holden 'An Introduction to Physical Geography' prior to starting Durham. Although University study is not at all in line with the rote learning experienced at GCSE and A-Level, you are "reading for your degree" and this book certainly will provide you with some essential information to get you started for the year!
Best of luck! Be sure to message any of the Exec regarding any other issues or queries!
